Lower abdomen, sexual organs
I embrace pleasure and abundance.
Pleasure and creativity are the name of the game with the body’s second chakra. The Sacral Chakra, or Svadhisthana, influences those parts of life that spark joy and passion, including sociability, sensuality, and play. A center of connection, it allows us to experience the world through our senses and emotions. Think of a child, who simply feels what they feel and does so without shame or hangups, who readily embraces happiness and delights in the world around them. Your Sacral Chakra helps you connect to that inner child, fueling your sense of abundance and wellbeing.
When your Sacral Chakra is in balance, you’re able to enjoy life’s pleasures and create freely. You’re a vibrant source of vitality, connecting to others and to your emotions in an authentic yet healthy manner.
Because the Sacral Chakra is located in the groin, it also holds sway over sexuality and sexual desires. In addition to the reproductive organs, the Sacral Chakra affects the kidneys and bladder.
Out of Balance:
An overactive Sacral Chakra can result in clinginess, impulsiveness, mood swings, and overemotional behaviors (think of that same inner child, but one who is unable to tame their wants and feelings). On the other hand, a blocked Sacral Chakra can result in depression and emotional stagnancy. You might find yourself stumbling into a creative block, unable to craft new ideas. Physically you might experience sexual dysfunction, lower back pain, and bladder problems.
How To Heal Your Sacral Chakra:
You can balance and realign your Sacral by meditating with gemstones like Carnelian and Citrine. Or use essential oils like Patchouli and Ylang-ylang. Because the Sacral Chakra is our source of pleasure and joy, try to let yourself play. Do an enjoyable activity, one without a deadline or obvious end goal. Pick up an old hobby or try something like drawing and doodling. Dance and physical movement are also excellent for aligning the Sacral Chakra.
